Before you book the call
Is the APS certificate really compulsory for Indian students?
Yes. For Indian applicants going to Germany for longer than 90 days, APS verification is required — universities will not finalise admission and the visa file will not be accepted without it. It costs around ₹18,000 and takes roughly 3–4 weeks, so we begin it as early as possible.
How much money do I need to show for the visa?
For 2026 the blocked account requirement is €11,904, released to you at about €992 per month once you arrive. It is a proof of funds, not a fee — the money remains yours. A scholarship or a formal sponsor's declaration can replace part of it in some cases.
Is studying in Germany actually free?
Tuition at most public universities is free, including for international students. You pay a semester contribution of roughly €150 – €350, which typically includes a public transport ticket. The exception is Baden-Württemberg, where non-EU students pay about €1,500 per semester.
Do I need to know German?
Many Master's programmes are taught fully in English. But German is what gets you part-time work, an apartment and a job after graduation — so we recommend reaching at least A2–B1 before you fly, and we can arrange the coaching.
How long does the whole process take?
Plan for 3–5 months before your semester begins. Visa decisions typically take 4–12 weeks, and the VFS appointment queue in peak season can add several more. Starting early is the single biggest thing within your control.
What if I've already graduated and want to work, not study?
The Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) gives qualified non-EU professionals up to 12 months in Germany to look for work, with part-time work allowed meanwhile. You need a recognised qualification, basic German or good English, and proof of about €13,092 in funds. We advise on eligibility and the points assessment.
